Creating your own shower steamers with menthol crystals is a fantastic way to transform your shower into a spa-like experience, particularly beneficial for easing congestion and clearing a stuffy nose. To use, simply place a steamer on the floor of your shower, away from direct water flow, and let the steam release soothing menthol vapors, providing a refreshing, aromatic experience.
140g of baking soda
70g of citric acid
10ml of oil of your choice (jojoba or sweet almond)
7g of menthol crystals
20 drops of eucalyptus essential oil
Time to make: 30 minutes
You will need: heatproof glass jug, mixing bowl, spatula/spoon for mixing, bath bomb moulds
1. Mix the soda bicarb and citric acid in a bowl until well combined
2. In a separate jug combine oil, essential oil and methol crystals and mix well to let the crystals dissolve. You can speed things up by heating the oil in a double boiler.
3. Now pour the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients, slowly mixing as you go. Start with a small amount of the liquid, then work your way up as needed. The mixture should clump. You want the consistency to be like wet sand.
4. Pile the mixture into the mould. Then press down and leave them for about half an hour.
5. Pop them out of the moulds and set them aside for several hours, until dry.
