MAKE YOUR OWN BODY BUTTER
This recipe uses whipped shea butter to create a nourishing body cream. Fragrance it with your choice of essential oils and in not time you can make your own body butter. Package it prettily to give yourself or someone a treat or a lovely gift (Hello Birthdays, Christmas and Mother’s Day!).
Our recipe is designed to be far more than pretty though. As you would expect from Acala, it’s plastic free and earth kind, but also beautifully body kind.
Rich with nourishing whipped shea butter, it’s fantastic for cracked heels and dry areas. Apricot oil supports skin health and wellbeing, and the suggested essential oils lift mood and increases your sense of self care.
It’s a true ‘treat in a jar’.
Time to Make: Prep time: 5 minutes. Make time: 15 minutes
You Will Need: a pyrex bowl, microwave or bain marie / double boiler (saucepan to put the pyrex bowl above for melting ingredients), spatula, whisk
Ingredients
Method
- Bring a pan of hot water to the boil.
- Chop the shea butter into small chunks and add to a glass bowl with the apricot oil and candelilla wax.
- Carefully suspend the bowl (make sure it’s not touching) over the hot water and whisk as it melts, until the mix is creamy. (Or soften the shea butter and candelilla wax in the microwave for 2 minutes and then whisk with the apricot oil until the mixture is creamy.
- Remove from the heat, add the essential oils and whisk again at high speed for 3 – 5 minutes until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Spoon into the glass jar, let it cool completely, then put the lid on, and your body butter is good to use!
