Castor oil is extracted by pressing the seeds / beans of the castor plant.
For centuries, castor oil has been a popular treatment for dry, brittle, damaged hair or hair loss. With its richness in vitamin E, omega-9 and omega-6 fatty acids, it has also been shown to stimulate hair growth.
High in ricinoleic acid, castor oil is highly moisturising, making it a wonderful ingredient in skincare too. The anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties of castor oil make it popular in helping spots or acne, despite it being quite a thick, viscous oil.

Vegan & Cruelty-free
Great to use in making body washes, facial cleansers, hand washes, or balms, particularly where gloss is needed (e.g. for lips) or water resistance (.e.g. nappy balms).
Castor oil can be quite strong-smelling, so you may want to add essential oils in recipes to create a pleasing scent.
Shelf life: 12 months. Store in a cool, dry place.
